We just introduced some of Coalatree’s product into the shop last week; they are a rad company that’s pretty new on the scene so we thought we’d give you a little introduction. Here’s what their “About Us” section on their website says:
“COALATREE is engaged in an evolving agricultural movement that will awaken humanity to the realization that freedom comes through being more self-reliant, and less self-dependent on unnatural foods and goods. We see a day when everyone is more concerned about what goes on and in their bodies – a day when urban gardening and urban art find harmony with a generation that gets down to earth and back to the roots. A world where value is earned through a hard days work and organic quality isn’t a cost, it’s a way of life. At COALATREE, we believe you reap what you sow. That’s why all of our products are farm tested and inspire the desire to plant a seed, grow some goods, and experience the freedom that comes through living a more independent and self-sustained life.”
Coalatree was founded and run by a small group of friends out of New Castle Colorado, and the Farm has Cattle, Chickens, Turkeys, Pigs, Lamb, and even a Goat. They also have a mini ramp on the property.
Coalatree has roots in the snowboard and skate industry, and they continue to expand and work with other action sports, as part of their goal to support active healthy and eco-friendly lifestyles. They currently have snowboarders, skateboarders, a mountain biker & kayaker, musicians, artists, and even two fly-fishermen on their team, all of whom support the organic lifestyle as well. They are definitely a brand you can trust and know that the farmers who produced the materials for the product were treated fairly. Their cotton comes from India, where they work directly with the mills and farmers to guarantee they are using NON-GMO seeds, not using extreme herbicides and being paid fairly. All of their synthetic fabric come from mills in Taiwan that are BLUESIGN approved. They are definitely setting a standard for quality over quantity.
To find out more, check out their website www.COALATREE.com, instagram @COALATREE for great photos, Vimeo, and Facebook at COALATREE Organics. And come check out their product we have in stock at the shop or online!
Hey Coalatree, when are you gonna come up and bbq with us??

He’s part dutch, but don’t hold that against him.
Logan Winkelaar. Born in the depths of mordor, but raised in the heart of Logan City Skatepark. Often confused with a male model. Unfortunately only a local skate god. Check him out here and hopefully you don’t ever have to duel him at the Logan park.
A/S/L?
21/M/Directive
How did you get into skateboarding?
I don’t really remember not skateboarding. My dad has always skated and he’s the one who got me into it. That’s all I know, just snowboarding and skateboarding.
How did you get started at Directive?
Hanging out at the shop and skatepark and being friends with Austin helped (who also works here).

Since he is practically a male model and all, sometimes we post him up on the roof at Directive to lure customers in.
What’s your current set up?
I’ve got two set ups right now. One is the Welcome 8.25″ popsicle Adam Garuda graphic which is rad, with Indy 149′s with Bones Medium Hardcore Bushings, Reds bearings and Spitfire Street Burners. The other is a Welcome 8.5″ Seahorse deck on the Nimbus 3000 shape with Indy 149′s with the Bones Medium Bushings, Spitfire Street Burners and just some Reds.
Do you have any big plans for this summer?
Traveling and working at Woodward West. I’m actually going on a trip this weekend with a lot of people down to Moab to skate slickrock.
What sort of skateboarding do you fancy most? favorite trick currently?
I like skating everything but I guess people would say I mostly skate tranny because I grew up at the Logan skatepark which has a lot of tranny, and flows really well. My favorite trick is probably just grinding things.
Speaking of grinding…. Girls, Skateboarding, or Partying? What’s the most fun? Or all three combined?
I wish I had experience in the girls or partying department, so I’ll have to just go with skateboarding, just grinding.
So how do we fix the girl and partying thing?
I just joined this band, Mongolian Haircut. Maybe that’ll help.
What’s Mongolian Haircut?
I have no idea. Something like spacefunk jazz fusion I guess…
Do you think anything interesting will happen in skateboarding this year? Looking forward to any films?
I’m really looking forward to what Dill and AVE are gonna do now that they quit Alien Workshop.

Mctwist at the park.
What’s your spirit animal?
Probably a gnarwhal.
Any last words?
Pete where are you??!

a wide variety of shapes + sizes. and dope graphics too.
Welcome Skateboards came into the shop last week so we thought we’d give you a little introduction to the brand, if you haven’t already heard of them. The company was founded in 2009 in Mission Viejo, California. What sets them apart from other brands right now is all the crazy different shapes they have available. The Nimbus 3000, Nimbus 5000, Basilisk, Squid Beak, Eclipse, Waxing Moon, Moontrimmer, Wormtail, Soul Splitter, Sledgehammer, Magic Bullet, Slappy Slap, Magic Mace, and Vimana, which are all fully skate-able. You can get more info on their website here, and follow them on instagram here!

Some say the logo resembles illuminati, but I see the deathly hallows sign from harry potter…especially with all the board shape names also resembling names from the HP series…so tell us are you guys big harry potter fans or is this all just a coincidence??
You can shop the summer collection in store and online at Directive Boardshop today!
